iPhone 6 Could be Larger and More Rounded Than iPhone 5SDale Wright
The iPhone 6 will be larger and more rounded than the iPhone 5S, if a dummy model of the smartphone is to be believed.
Images of the iPhone 6 dummy model have appeared on Italian tech blog Macitynet and could confirm many of the rumors surrounding the upcoming Apple smartphone. The iPhone 6 dummy model phone can be seen to have a 4.7-inch display and rounded edges.
If the dummy model is to be believed, Apple is going for a complete design overhaul for the iPhone 6. The typical silver side edging has been removed and the entire handset appears to have been slimmed down. The slimmer build is certainly in keeping with previous rumors discussing the iPhone 6, but those curved edges are definitely new. Apple is certainly listening to what its customers want by introducing the larger smartphone, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of quality design.
The post on Macitynet also shows a video comparing the dummy iPhone 6 with an iPhone 5S handset, to show the stark increase in size. Another big change is the position of the power button, which has now moved to the side. iPhones traditionally have their power buttons on the top of the handset, but that wouldn’t really work for a larger phone. The side position for the power button will mean that users will still be able to hold their iPhone 6 and turn it off with one hand.
The images don’t give any clues about any features or hardware we can expect to see in the iPhone 6; they just focus on its design. Earlier reports have focused on improved camera technology and sensors that will work with the iWatch. We’re still a few months away from September yet, so we’ll see what other rumors emerge the closer we get to the iPhone 6’s release.
