Are These The First Pictures Of The iPad Mini?Dale Wright
As the iPad Mini rumours gain traction, an Australian writer has posted two photos of a device which he claims is the iPad Mini.
The photos, posted on Instagram and Twitter yesterday, reveal a 7” 32 GB iPad with a Lightning dock connector, stereo speakers and a slim, silver case. The front of the device isn’t shown in the photos, but from the case, it looks authentic. It’s suggested that there will be a 3G and a wifi version.
Tech bloggers expect launch of the iPad Mini is right around the corner. Invites could go out any time. The Snugg’s online store already has iPad Mini cases in stock ready for an imminent launch, and there are a number of rumours from reliable sources that the device will be with us this side of Christmas.
Meanwhile, Google and Samsung are already making plans for the next wave of Android tablets, according to The Telegraph. While the iPad Mini looks likely to take on the Nexus 7, Google and Samsung seem keen to develop a high-spec competitor to the original iPad.
Google and Samsung are said to be developing a 10” version of the Nexus tablet with a screen resolution even higher than the iPad’s retina display (299 ppi). Rather than being a budget device, technology journalists expect the 10” Nexus would be aimed at the premium market – that’s the same target group as the people who might buy a full-sized iPad.
If you’re thinking of picking up a new tablet for Christmas, you won’t be short of options. The Amazon Kindle Fire is also due out soon. It comes in two versions, a regular 8 GB version (£129) and Kindle Fire HD (£159). The latter has a better display and the option of 16 GB or 32 GB storage. Both will be released on October 25th.
